This Is Why You Don't Throw Wood Away!

The builders mocked me. My friends mocked me. Even my wife and children rolled their eyes. But this is why I didn't want to throw away all the old 1960's timbers from the old house. A lot of it was a bit rotten and woodwormy, but there were some good bits!
After a year mellowing nicely to a refined patinated state (ie going green and mossy in a wet pile in the garden) I have finally dragged some of the 8x2 inch timbers out, dried them out, given them a quick sand and whizzed the nails with an angle grinder and knocked up some simple ladder-frame bookshelves. Nothing fancy, but they fit very nicely in the overall look of the downstairs.
And best of all, they are free!
